The prayer Column
God commands private prayer. Matthew 6:9 begins with the Father and His name.
The Shema calls us to love the Lord with all the heart, soul, and strength.
The Tabernacle: Living in Power through Abiding Prayer shows how that love is practiced
— quietly, from the heart, through Christ.
Showbread
Showbread in the Holy Place: the Word of God as a type of Christ Jesus, the bread of life on the table in the Tabernacle. How caring Christians serve.

“And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life.” —John 6:35
The Word of God is a type of Christ Jesus. The bread of life is here upon a table within the Holy Place of the Tabernacle. The Holy Place is most closely tied to the Gospel applied by caring Christians in the lives of others. The Word of God, Christ Jesus—the bread of life—is passed from generation to generation. One born-again Christian, made holy by blood sacrifice, touches one lost soul for the cleansing of sin and serves another of God’s creatures. That service is done in the flesh world by the spiritual processes God illustrated in the Tabernacle. Twelve loaves, the bread that feeds us (John 6:35, 48), remind us of Jesus’ love and faithfulness, and that He supplies what we need, physical and spiritual. Jesus is the Word of God (John 1:1–3). The manna that provided for Israel reminds us that the same God provides now, in whatever He asks us to do.Evangelism is loving your neighbor as yourself. That “second thing” is God’s love poured out to reclaim what is God’s. Understood rightly, this brings order and sustaining power. Lighting the menorah lamps and using the showbread is how action moves from the spiritual realm into the natural.
